I used to ride a Fausto Coppi in Genius tubing. Never had the feeling it dented easily. Only bike from my collection that dented easily was my Ritchey Project 20 (Logic Prestige tubing).

That's good to know, thanks very much for the info!
Good ride out of interest?

It will dent easily I’m sure but I don’t think it would do more so than any other high end tubing. A lot of Columbus’ offering today consists of main tubes with a non butted section of less than 0.4mm wall thickness. I’ve used a few Spirit tubes with something like 0.35mm wall thickness

I have a Cinelli frame in Columbus Genius tubing, had it for about ten or so years. Rides beautifully, never dinged or dented even after being hit by a motorbike (it's 54cm and I'm about 60kg).

Decent, that's reassuring. I'm looking at a few genius frames online

The Coppi had a very nervous geo and my opinion is that tubing is of lesser importance than geo (ofcourse within the same range: decent steel, not gaspipe stuff). I had a Supercorsa in Genius too and liked the ride of that too. Both were built as neo retro. Here's the Coppi going uphill in the 2017 Gran Fondo FAusto Coppi.

Ahhh there he is! Nice shot. Sure geo definitely has the biggest impact on ride feel, I guess I was mainly meaning in terms of stiffness.

I wonder if Columbus Genius tubes are related to Columbus Brain tubes?

Here's my columbus genius Colnago out in the wild on Friday. It rides beautifully, comfortable and light. I will be using this as much as my carbon bikes this year I suspect. No dings or dents & it's had over 25 years of riding so far.

Super nice! Yeah i was wondering how Genius would feel compared to carbon. Just noticed the subtle orang fade to the cranks, woah!

Cheers, was in the MGOOF thread last summer.
Has anyone had any experience riding a bike made from Columbus Genius? I've read stories of it being very prone to dents/dings and wondered if anyone who owns one feels this is true?
I understand that Genius is formed by only butting portions of the tube that are under the greatest stress, therefore meaning the certain areas of the tubing is rather thin, so wondered would this cause issues with light crashed or stones flicking up, or is the stuff I've read just speculation as people assume, thin walls, easily dented.
Any info is appreciated! I ride 59cm and am about 70/75kg
Cheers!
