  • Aren't those 6 pot calipers renowned for just seizing up at drop of a hat anyways? 44t guys had the same one and ended up changing out calipers for 4 pots off a newer bike?

Remember 6 pot Ti that hope used to make 10+ years ago? Utter nightmares, they were fine for the 1st year from new, but so finicky that most folk gave up with them and just went back to M4 with 200/220 rotors or Formula Gustav's I think were the other DH brake of choice at that time.

  • Funny you mention Fagan's SRAD from Budget Bike Battle #1, that's kind of what started it all. I've done a lot of reading about this since that came out and I'd say 60% of people replace them but the others say they're fine if cleaned regularly. But yeah, lots of people do have issues with them and seems from what I gather a radial master cylinder helps either way. In gixxer news who new a screen you can see through would be so useful?!

  • Weather last few days has brought ALL the bikes out. Where I was working earlier in the week there were more mbikes on the road than any other type of vehicle. Over the road and engine noise you could literally hear the riders going 'weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, fucking yes mate', all having a great time.

  • Serious fanboy jersey. Do want.

  • And the used prices are getting stronger by the day!

  • it's only taken a year, but I've finally begun dismantling this in order to replace the starter clutch and get the thing working again. Despite being a '96, so far only one bolt that couldn't be undone (on the radiator annoyingly - drilled it out but I'm not 100% there's no swarf in there somewhere)

  • Need this first, for coffee shop and post office runs. You know, small local commuting and errands.

  • Theory test booked 14th may.... DAS next.

  • Went to get the bike out earlier. Leaned to put the side stand down. It said “nah bro” and just kinda fell over really slowly.

I was too busy laughing at myself how slowly it happened to rush to pick it up.

Then a little later, going round a roundabout I managed to scrape a toe as the back wheel decided to let go.

Shimmied and kept it upright and said to myself today is not the day 😂

  • 2 motorcyclists killed in two days here. Stay safe everyone!

  • Finally got my GS550L home after being in my pals garage for a year.

Taken me over a year to get my mod1 done due to cancellations galore. Mod2 still needs to be booked, very frustrating as it was all booked in a year ago then covid just mashed up my plans.

  • That looks super clean. I feel for you, it’s rubbish being delayed.

  • 1981 suzuki gs550l, 9300 miles on the clock.

got it for a very good price, condition is lovely.

  • I remember a second surge post 10k, a proper screamer.

I can confirm this is the case, crazy how fast a 20 year old bike can still feel. Went on some Easter Sunday errands today and turns out I can get a whole crumble under the rear hump.

@josh that looks in lovely nick as mentioned. Fingers crossed things start to move a little quicker as restrictions ease.

  • Banging. Great day out for it. Temps are just the right side of chilled. Whwre the hell is that btw? You seem to live on the doorstep of some awesome tarmac

  • Temps are just the right side of chilled

Agreed, spring is the best. This is south of me in Herts but yeah there's some great little routes through the countryside this way.

  • Spot on mate. Yup, 120+ hp in a light bike is still super fast!

    Cracking Viaduct too.

  • Nice to have some company for a few hours. The guy on the KTM was a machine - 50/50 tyres and uncomplaining through all the ruts and mud. Well, until the Magura clutch failed 50 miles later.

Here we are taking the rubber tops off his footpegs.

  • Brought the bike back from it’s winter habitat. Got caught in a easter surprise snowstorm and all the motorway cafés are corona closes so no where to regain warmth. Was proper awful. Broke the speedometer drive too when I got past around 160 kmph.
Only about 250 kms, but I need at least a day of recovery before I can even consider washing the salty grime off and mending the speedo drive.
Still good to feel alive though. :)

  • Lol and they all say change the oem for a magura.
