I think time for Multiplas to be reappraised. I could never quite understand the hatred for them.

Because they're odd, ugly, and functional.

That said, one of my petrolhead teachers always cited it as an eg of how the Italians could get away with style and design choices no one else could.

(this was before all those butt ugly 00's BMWs)

There's truth in that, I'm far more forgiving towards Fiat (and also French design) than to BMW, Audi, for example. Obviously the Multipla is jarring against other models of the time, but I just found it all the more interesting for that.
