just replaced the front brake on bullitt, fuck me took me around 3 hours! If I had a car I'd have used a carjack

I imagine it’ll be considerably quicker next time!

Can’t recommend them for much tbh, the bike is much more stable on its stand.

I am hoping there is no next time!
its good though, now the bike is not a mystery to me, used the WHOLE of 2.5m of hose.

I would be interested in a non electric version of that. It would be a convenient thing to have about the place.

Here’s a blog post that hopefully helps everyone looking at getting an Omnium understand the changes to their range made this year and which options have WiFi and Classic models

So the WiFi omnium is quoted at an extra £200 over the QR version which is a bit hard to swallow for me. On the one hand, TA and tyre clearance is “better” but on the other hand, it doesn’t really cost very much if anything extra from a frame building perspective to spec TA dropouts over QR unless they’re Paragon vs simple cast dropouts or something.
Anyway, I’m back to thinking I might just build my own.
Omnium aren’t shipping direct to the UK, only to dealers I think. Would a dealer likely be willing to order me some parts from Omnium when not purchasing a bike or frame?
I’m thinking the fork and rack may be easier to use from omnium rather than make my own. (The rack being aluminium if I’m not mistaken, and therefore lighter than steel I’d be able to make) -

Doesnt through axle have tighter alignment tolerances? So maybe more precision required when manufacturing.. wouldn’t know whether that is the only justification for the price bump or not but I’d think it’s worth it.
Anyway I think you should make one! Can I donate my GT for the cause?

I’d go the whole hog and start from scratch but I can make you something cool out of the GT if you like. Maybe not for a while however

I believe the production costs of going for various colours and sizes in the WiFi vs only one colour one size in the Classic is part of the reason for the difference, plus the frame details on the WiFi are impressive, things like the curved seatstay bridge look very nice.
Considering the price of literally everything in the bike world has gone up this year, Omnium's idea of bringing out the 'Classic' option to keep costs down is pretty smart.
Comparably LvsH have increased their prices across the board by 10%, as have a lot of brands, the Classic is essentially the same pricing as their bikes used to be whereas the WiFi models are more expensive but have added value.
I might be wrong but I do think it's a justifiable price difference. If you want some Omnium parts drop me a message, we order from them pretty regularly and you can buy wheelsets and racks separately.

This.
Some folk want the extra tyre width potential and a number of other things the wifi brings, the rest are quite happy with a regular classic bike.Would suggest getting a whole bike or a frame kit + parts in a one go, unless you already have everything you need in a box.
Things like headsets, bb, shifters, rear mechs, chainsets are just extremely hard to get, especially in UK, so don't assume you'll just pick these items up from an LBS or a national retailer.
I've just ordered 60 chain sets from a shop in Germany as there are zero available any other reasonable method. -

Yeah I should say if I didn't already that things like through axles and extra tyre clearance are "upgrades" that are worth paying for to 99% of customers. I don't think Omniums are bad value at all.
It is only that I know I could build my own for less money (of course, Omniums obviously have a profit margin built in, like every product in the world) which is swaying me toward doing so. I knew this from the outset but the cost vs my time and effort meant I was looking at OTP.
Cargo bike completes are off the cards for me due to the cost limit on my C2W scheme so I would be building from used parts.Anyway, I might give it a go in a few months. I'm thinking of saving weight with a carbon rear steerer tube since there's no force going through it apart from steering. The fork steerer and headtube take the traditional forces associated with bike riding.

Thought omnium were the only company to make children’s cargo bikes, this looks awesome! https://m.facebook.com/Audiopunktur/posts/pcb.2903064959776718/?photo_id=2903062969776917&mds=%2Fphotos%2Fviewer%2F%3Fphotoset_token%3Dpcb.2903064959776718%26photo%3D2903062969776917%26profileid%3D680500856%26source%3D48%26refid%3D28%26_ft_%3Dqid.6946333623715458171%253Amf_story_key.1606007446586777324%253Atop_level_post_id.3905474019535802%253Acontent_owner_id_new.100002197276838%253Aoriginal_content_id.2903064959776718%253Aoriginal_content_owner_id.100002197276838%253Asrc.22%253Aphoto_id.2903062969776917%253Astory_location.5%253Aattached_story_attachment_style.album%253Aview_time.1617318813%253Afilter.h_nor%26__tn__%3DEHH-R%26cached_data%3Dfalse%26ftid%3D&mdp=1&mdf=1

Someone @gbj_tester would have to work it out quantitatively, but that's going to put a very amount of stress on the head tube cluster (not designed for it) when under acceleration or going up a hill.
I'm guessing, with a heavy rider and under full power close to 5x the normal load. When just petering along, probably 2-3x.
Combine this with the wrong choice of bike and there could be a complete failure of the frame.
The irony is there's no real need to limit the weight on the rack as it just goes through the hub and wheel.
Just my thoughts from halfway around the world.
