Yeah I should say if I didn't already that things like through axles and extra tyre clearance are "upgrades" that are worth paying for to 99% of customers. I don't think Omniums are bad value at all.
It is only that I know I could build my own for less money (of course, Omniums obviously have a profit margin built in, like every product in the world) which is swaying me toward doing so. I knew this from the outset but the cost vs my time and effort meant I was looking at OTP.
Cargo bike completes are off the cards for me due to the cost limit on my C2W scheme so I would be building from used parts.
Anyway, I might give it a go in a few months. I'm thinking of saving weight with a carbon rear steerer tube since there's no force going through it apart from steering. The fork steerer and headtube take the traditional forces associated with bike riding.
