Cheers. Bungee is an option but I'd prefer something neater.

Can't you just stick a small length of timber batten between the jamb/stop and the face of the door that the hinge plates are screwed to?

That's what I'm doing at the moment (with a roll of kitchen roll) but with small fingers around I'd prefer something a bit better.
