If you don't have a mitre saw but do have a circular saw, I have also cut plenty of aluminium with one of those and a suitable blade.

I tried with a jigsaw and an aluminium specific blade.
Awful.

Went to screwfix to buy a cheap Evolution 165mm circular saw with multi material blade for £50.
Went through the aluminium like butter, very neat finish, didn't need any real filing at all.

Yep, I have a cheap evolution saw with a multi blade on just for cutting box profile roofing, always impressed how well it works. Keep the nice Makita for wood.
