No idea how common it is but it seems simple enough to get a replacement belt, just email Elite or buy an equivalent one yourself. There's a facebook group if it helps https://www.facebook.com/groups/1380212845399014

What’s the second hand market in smart trainers like? Anything in particular to be wary of?
I’m currently using an old minoura(?) turbo that cost £100 15 years ago but a 2nd hand Elite Direto has just come up locally for £280. It seems this model costs £499 to buy new so 280 doesn’t strike me as too bad, but coincidentally I opened this thread on this post where @sumo is suggesting that the calibration can shift over time and the belt may need replacing. Is this a common issue?
