  • We did it! Exchanged and completed on the same day yesterday, just had our first night in our new house :)

It went right down to the wire - exchanged about 5pm. Five minutes before we heard from our solicitors that it had gone through we had decided to head up to the storage place, after waiting outside with the removal men since 1pm. Had literally driven down the road when we heard.

Removal guys left at 7pm and were clearly knackered after their 10 hour day.

All this stress caused by the other side's muppet solicitors who posted one of the death certificates we needed by normal post on Friday so it still hadn't got to our solicitors yesterday. Then it turned out they'd cocked up further and it wasn't a certified copy. Fortunately I had predicted their shitness and ordered the death certificate in question from the Register Office on a next day service, thereby saving our purchase.

House is dusty and dirty but we already love it and it has so much potential. It's so quiet here apart from the sound of birds - @chrisbmx116 you weren't exaggerating! I've honestly never heard so many birds anywhere I've lived.

Was too wound up to sleep last night so was ordering wheelie bins and changing my address with people online instead. Turns out geese honk at 3am, who knew...

  • WAHOOOO!
Congrats and welcome to the neighbourhood... we must do a drink over a garden wall sometime soon.
Look forward to seeing what you do with the place.
We had similar drama with our move, I was in the Coppermill pub until about 9 waiting for the trucks to get our stuff out of storage.
Had a massive swan flying past my front window, was pretty wild, I think there is more countryside here than in what people actually think is the countryside (Norfolk for example) as its all just farm land where all wildlife is killed off by spinal column in a bap eating farmers with their giant chickens.

  • congrats dude. always feels better when it goes right down to the wire!

  • Congratulations! A day of relief before starting the list of things to sort out...

  • Congrats!

Yes, I notice that every time I ride through--made by the distance from main streets and the lack of through motor traffic.
