Well that escalated quickly.
After some online research it appears the Tamiya connectors are rolled metal which creates 'hot spots' or a tiny point of contact with massive resistance. To counter this I have inserted some brass sleeves which hopefully will allow a larger contact point. So less resistance. 😎
