  • Especially trying to cut it with all the hoses and bars in situ.... :O

  • Bit jealous on this top notch beik and build

but i will never understood what S were thinking when they designed the headset top cap. That people only go straight?

  • I fancied dropping a spacer to keep @TotalShanner happy when I post it on Instagram. You literally have no options unless you cut before you fit. The hose and there is no way in hell I'm pulling those out AGAIN.
Hoping the Hope hose doesn't leak, otherwise I'll be doing exactly that and replacing with the mythical BH90.

@e54 aeroz. And I guess I'll be looking where I'm going rather than at the top cap when cornering 🤷🏻‍♂️
    But agree. It's ugly as.

Otherwise it looks clean as. 😍

  • Very nice! I have resigned myself to the need for exposed cables due staying with rim brakes, but would like a cableless cockpit one day.

  • Front brake: bled first time. Nice bite and lever feel.

Rear brake: 2 olives didn't seat properly. Had to chop off the hose. Then had to disassemble the entire bike to pull through some more hose. And now I can push fluid through but not pull it back so there must be some debris in there.
Promised the Mrs it'd be out the office and it'd be tidy today too. FFS.

    Another day without riding. Joy.

  • This is why I still ride rim brakes...

  • Ah, those things that deposit thousands of pounds of carbon on every descent? I'll keep my discs thanks... ;)

  • Fortunately my wheels don’t cost ££££££.
To be fair, I’ve never worn out any rim, alloy or carbon. Change bikes and wheels too often...

  • Well karma bit for my comments. Though I've now successfully bled the brake. Bleed port is stripped. Fuck my life.

  • Whereas I managed to get out on my bike this weekend, and did my best ever 10s power.
Clearly sat in the home office and and recovering from Covid has done something...

  • ghosts of over heated rim brake wheels coming to haunt you,

Jokes aside, this genuinely sounds like it sucks, i think i would have thrown it in a canal

I bought a glue gun, reminisced of the DT labs at school, then stuck it in.

Now to wrap the bars - my favourite - and find a large hill to test my glue skillz.

Got to bleed the brakes in a few weeks too when the Black RX4s arrghhhh.

Edit: Ok, all hope is lost. I REALLY NEED a left hand r8070 or 9170 Pair. Help, anyone?

  • Current status: nice ornament. Unrideable until lever sourced and bars wrapped.

    😢😢😢😢

  • You’ve wrecked the bleed port?

  • Yes. In a word.

Using a epic bleed kit adapter which is
Metal and not Nylon over time has stripped out the thread. The bleed screw literally just drops in now. No bite in it at all.

Tried to glue it in, but the cleaning process to enable that is obviously allowing some oil to escape or air enter the system.

I just want to ride this bike :(

  • Ah man that sucks. I am surprised that you could find a lever in stock with the current bike draught.

  • Can you / find someone who can drill to a wider thread and then find an adapter?

Bodging hydraulic disc brakes seems... unwise though.

  • Something like this im thinking and super glue around it for good measure / seal.

Those levers at mechanical. I keep falling for the '70' which on that gen of DA did not mean hydro. :(

@amey I'm sure somebody somewhere is using one of my required leavers on the winter bike and i can prize it out of their hands now it's summer. I might target well known forum hoarders of nice stuff.

  • Got any photos of the damaged bleed port?

Edit: Just seen your other thread, nevermind!

  • Efforts involving glue will continue. I'd really like to ride this bike this B/H weekend.

It will ultimately end up on eBay as spares or repairs when this bad boy arrives.

Can't complain really. I paid £200 on here for the pair a year ago brand new. Bargain. I love this place.
