  • So the WiFi omnium is quoted at an extra £200 over the QR version which is a bit hard to swallow for me. On the one hand, TA and tyre clearance is “better” but on the other hand, it doesn’t really cost very much if anything extra from a frame building perspective to spec TA dropouts over QR unless they’re Paragon vs simple cast dropouts or something.
Anyway, I’m back to thinking I might just build my own.
Omnium aren’t shipping direct to the UK, only to dealers I think. Would a dealer likely be willing to order me some parts from Omnium when not purchasing a bike or frame?
I’m thinking the fork and rack may be easier to use from omnium rather than make my own. (The rack being aluminium if I’m not mistaken, and therefore lighter than steel I’d be able to make)

  • Doesnt through axle have tighter alignment tolerances? So maybe more precision required when manufacturing.. wouldn’t know whether that is the only justification for the price bump or not but I’d think it’s worth it.

Anyway I think you should make one! Can I donate my GT for the cause?

  • I believe the production costs of going for various colours and sizes in the WiFi vs only one colour one size in the Classic is part of the reason for the difference, plus the frame details on the WiFi are impressive, things like the curved seatstay bridge look very nice.

Considering the price of literally everything in the bike world has gone up this year, Omnium's idea of bringing out the 'Classic' option to keep costs down is pretty smart.

Comparably LvsH have increased their prices across the board by 10%, as have a lot of brands, the Classic is essentially the same pricing as their bikes used to be whereas the WiFi models are more expensive but have added value.

I might be wrong but I do think it's a justifiable price difference. If you want some Omnium parts drop me a message, we order from them pretty regularly and you can buy wheelsets and racks separately.
