  • Don't be mistaken, I have no clue what I'm doing. I only half read a few articles online and ignored most of the advice because it sounded like hard work.

  • I think you'll find he's more of an AFL guy, tight shorts, singlets, etc...

  • So many bins.

That's not my only query, but it was something quite noticeable.

Also the staircase wouldn't meet building regs in the UK, but I guess in the US building regs would be a little too much like government tyranny.

  • Yes. This is why I hate cork tiles. Because they are a terrible flooring material that only looks worse with age and wear.

  • Those striplights are timeless though.

  • That's not a house it's a shag pad, look at that bed with fittings at each corner surrounded by mirrors. Also Nick Cave is an edgy 15 year old confirmed.

  • Who wouldn't want those?

  • I live in Brighton and see Nick Cave occasionally riding a dutch bike in Kemptown. By occasionally I mean once.

  • That's a tasty one - legit eric lyons / span right?

  • I left, so you're safe.

It's okay. Lacks anything more cultural than a Nero (a bit harsh). Lots of white people. Rich conservative area. But Brixton is 20min on the train, and it's 15min to the lanes. I liked it there, we overlooked the cricket green, I could almost imagine I was in the countryside. If you ahve to live in the city, but don't like the city, it's a good compromise I think.

It's nice, if a bit bland.

  • It's called patina!!

...only half-joking - I'd happily keep it if updating everything else in there ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • I have about 3/4 of the boxes from a 3 bed flat move, free to a good home. Collection from E10 asap.

  • I sold him a pair of kids bikes back in 2010ish, and failed miserably in my attempt to play it cool. More recently my commute took my past his house twice a day. Honestly, that was the most suitable route, and I was definitely not stalking him

  • Was just about to ask the same. Looks very much like a span house. @Dammit my house is of similar construction, though it does not look as nice. Cons: top floor gets very hot in summer . Not much internal insulation, noise travels freely internally. I'm betting electrics and plumbing will need modernisation going off those pics you posted. Mostly fixable, but it's all additional costs that add up to pretty big numbers all in

  • Thats lovely with the mirrors all up in the ceiling and around the bed.

  • So latest conundrum- put an offer in on Penge / Sydenham home. Bland 90s build but backs on to a big park and transport links are good. Can’t create any more space (aside from converting the small garage) so it’s a home for 5 years but not much more. I’ll be buying an office shed etc.

Turns out it’s on a ‘private road’ even though none of the EA details say that and the Housing assoc that in theory owns it isn’t easy to find on the internet.

EA wasn’t aware either but happily confirmed that the vendors say they don’t pay anything for upkeep - some sort of weird magic money thing going on...

At least it’s a good potential downwards £ negotiation lever later on.

Also why do people selling their house reduce price to £x but say ‘we won’t accept anything less than £x+20k’.

  • Estate agents telling them they will get this and then think people all have a magic money tree out the back for that extra wee bump they were told to expect.

  • We're getting a new kitchen (Howdens and a lot less than £40k) but does mean the old one needs rehoming if that's a thing.
Is this something that you would stick on gumtree/eBay/FB as I've genuinely no idea.

If anyone was interested in a new second hand kitchen with the black sparkly quartz worktops and an island let me know.

Issue is it would need to be collected from Chester

Also we will be selling the range cooker too. I'm not a big fan of the separate grill so going for something else and likely to be a Smeg.

  • This is also amazing, hope it has cork floors.

  • Is it real quartz or composite? I had a smeg oven and it was quite disappointing compared to the electric IKEA job I have now. It did look good though.

  • Yep gumtree, eBay and Facebook marketplace would be my bets, plenty of people sell their old kitchens
