  • Good work. Wood underneath looks in good condition are you gonna sand back or leave rugged and rough

  • I used Nitromors to strip away the paint. It appears that there has been at least 4 colours applied in 115 years. Where the grain is now exposed, I will sand that to a smooth finish perhaps add some tung oil, the reminant of paint colours and varnish applied add character so I’m going for the distressed / lazy / hipster DIY look. Also the reversing from light to dark recessive interior changes the whole aspect of this cabinet and its setting in my dining room. The ceiling and above picture rail walls have also be stripped of textured lining adding more distressed feel of the space.

    I’m gonna fill my cabinet with fresh pineapples to garnish my cocktails, I am inspired!!
