  • Also, the mud is drying up for good now, I was thinking of planning another #nogravel northern ride for the 17th or 24th, anyone keen? I will also need to be explained in what groups of "n" we're allowed to ride by then, if we are more than n we will split into more groups. I'll get the event up at some point.

  • the mud is drying up for good now

    What?! Forever? D:

  • Oh aye, just trying to straddle that line. Currently on 650b 47c knobblies.
I reckon 700 x 45 not very knobbly (G-One bite) pumped up to the moon will be the middle ground I'm after for day to day use. Not every gravel ride is a monster. Also, mud will be dealt with/avoided when it happens.

If its insufficient so be it, change it up. Ridden the tread off the Senderos, not too fussy really.

  • Yep, it's sick of people discussing tyres and calling it shitfromabutt, so it decided to call it quits

  • I think you and I either answer the same questions in significantly different ways or ride different rides, so let's agree on what you said, ride what you brung and you'll be fine

  • Do you have any routes? Hoping to visit family later this year and bring the bike!

  • 33mm CX tyres still roll better than 45mm tyres because 33<45

    Lies!

  • Awesome, needs a Lauf fork tho. :)

Please show your working for this equation....

  • You're having a Lauf

  • I think I'd rather fall over in mud than knock my teeth out on tree, but whatever floats your boat.

  • You must be new around here. Where I ride, the mud makes way for me.

  • If it fits and you have room for mud clearance, your tyres aren't big enough.

  • Because amey was bound to post it eventually

  • Pirelli cinturato M is very similar to vittoria mezcal... seems this kind of pattern a good balance. It’s never going to be as grippy as a knobbly mtb tyre but has decent bite for climbing/braking/cornering off road but still rolls well on tarmac/hard pack.

It’s all a sliding scale of compromise eh.

The shallow spaced knobs on the g one bite, I just don’t think that tread pattern stands a chance on UK muddle.

I wonder if a schwable smart Sam could be a good shout, not sure if they a decent casing in narrower sizes though.

  • Shitfromabutt is best tackled with 33mm tyres. Gio is right.

Smart Sams are good. Give them a try. Currently got them in 37mm and they're fine, but not as good as 33mm.

  • When I need your advice, I'll give you the special signal. Which would be me being sectioned under the fucking mental health act.

  • 100%. For #ukgravel shitfromabutt rides 33mm CX tyres are the best.

The sooner we stop dreaming of Instagram rubbish about big gravel tyres and wide dusty, endless mid-west US gravel roads the better. They don’t exist here.

Everyone hates fucking cyclists. Even fucking cyclists hate fucking cyclists.

Based on my recent experiences with Dugast Small Bird tubulars, I think 36mm is the sweet spot.

Those extra 3mm make all the difference.

  • Hey man that would be great
