I think I'm up for another go as well. Might be fun to try to record some vocals, and "law" should offer plenty of cover potential.

Where are the final tracks? Is there a link somewhere on the thread? Can it be put on page 1??

I'm inspired! Have been working on my home studio set up since January. Still finding my way round the kit and software but should have something up for round 2 or possibly 3.

How’s everyone doing for this months challenge? I’m having real difficulty getting the sound I want?! I’ve got an idea/composition but just can’t record it right.

I've not recorded this months either, I'm off my phone now and made a 165bpm track with the amen break, still computerless, crossposting my setup pic from the other music thread, only really got an idea at the moment and I may not figure out my set up properly in time to do anything with the desk, started working on some other dubbed out bits but just ideas for now, I reckon it's good to get anything in for the 9th even if it's not a fully polished track, can be something that you can revisit in your own time kind of thing. Keep at it dude.

That looks like a sweet setup! I’d love one of those black boxes. But can’t justify it at the moment especially with my mpc addiction!

Looking forwarded to hearing some classic DnB sounds with the Amen break. The drums are the only thing I’m happy with at the moment. I’ve been making kits from psyche rock breaks. Really dusty and oversaturated.

Ran out of time with this one, not enough leads to listen and have everything linked up so ended up running it through the desk back to a spare pads and recorded it back on the bb without monitoring so some bits are all over the place, there a track in there somewhere, sample is from sonny's lettah by Linton Kwesi Johnson and the drums are a mash up of the 6 sec amen. I’ve also struggled this month. I’m going to have a go at putting down a bassline down tonight and then I’ll upload it. It’ll be far from complete but you’ll get the idea.

Definitely - Its the Law !

I probably shouldn't have gotten so stuck on the idea of doing a cover. My time was a bit limited, and the mental hurdle of doing a whole song instead of just tinkering for a bit here and there proved to be too much. Still keen on the idea, so I hope there's interest in a new round.

Yet again I haven't started yet but I'm going to try and power through for a late submission...

I have been noodling and working out my cover so I might be able to get it done quickly in a lo-fi style!

I feel like I've massively dropped the ball on my own idea here but trying to buy a house has consumed my life at the moment 😭

I've also been absent from "the studio" and been ducking about on caustic all month... Bloody musicians. Looking forward to having a listen later. I have intention to stitch some bits together... Reality will probably be otherwise with 2/3 of the house being ill now.

To make matters worse I spent about three hours last night trying to get my interface to connect (Apogee Duet Firewire with adaptors) to my software (Presonus Studio One 4) to no avail.

I'm getting playback through it on Youtube fine so I suspect it's something in Presonus Studio One 4? Going to have to go back to the drawing board this evening and see if I can figure out the problem!

Argh that kind of connectivity thing has the ability to drive you up the wall! Does sound like a setting within the software, hopefully you'll go back to it and will be something obvious dude. I had a similar wtf moment yesterday as I so confidently said I'd be computerless, didn't factor in I'd need a computer to upload and record the thing. Cue me scrambling around the flat for my old computer which I couldn't find as my wife usefully tidied away somewhere and why I did the long winded way of recording back on the sd card without headphones, uploading from my phone.

Buying a house is a nightmare! I can only imagine how much harder it is at the moment... are you close to completion? Maybe, estate agents is a good subject for the next challenge? 😂 maybe not.

Hahaha estate agents would be some very dark music! It's going OK now all of a sudden (as of yesterday)but has been months of hell... it's much worse here in Ireland than you could even imagine in UK. I think there are currently only about 8000 houses for sale in the whole country 🥲
