If you’ve found The One Saddle, why bother looking?
Good choice though, also my favoured perch.

spesh toupe, slightly more curve

Is it perfect? No - but comes real close.
It's maybe too firm for longer rides.

SLR is the only true faith, on 7 out of 10 of my bikes, the others are for purely vintage reasons.

Put a Zonc on it

I'm an SLR person too, have them on all four of my bikes. Been pretty fortunate that I've managed to get saddles that are good for me for all of my bikes for never more than £30. I have wondered if it's the perfect saddle for me though, like you suggest, perhaps there is better?
A lot of my friends have & rave on about Brooks C17s, & I've tried them briefly & they've been fine. Quite an outlay (relatively speaking) to try something which might be worse though.
From my limited experience, I can't recommend a Charge Spoon saddle. Drew blood on an eighty mile fixed gear ride once - never again.

I got a fabric saddle on all 3 off my bikes had charge spoons as well in the early days brilliant budget saddle.

Still mulling your SLR with the bigger cutout - what was that like in comparison?

I couldn’t quite get on with it, but that was on the turbo where things are different. All going well someone is taking it soon anyways.

Used to love SLRs but something about my legs/pedalling/whatever meant I destroyed the nose covering pretty quickly, which then destroyed my bibs. Great but they seem to wear quickly and they aren't cheap.
Also went to fabric and pretty happy, and less bib destruction.

I used an SLR for a while, I quite liked it but it was never perfect. I tried a Specialized Romin and have used them ever since. Might be worth a punt! I've got a spare that a friend is trying out at the minute but if you're not in a rush you're welcome to give it a test run when he's finished with it.

+1 for the romin. Tried one when they first came out, however long ago that was, and replaced a variety of different all-not-quite-right saddles with them. They have a tendency to crack though - but you get loads of warning as they much more flexible and bouncy before they go!

As above, saddle choice very personal but have always got on with the classic early 90s Flite and latterly the Arione

I've not heard about the issue with cracking, I've had both of mine for years. Now I'm a bit concerned, ha ha. Where do they usually fail?

here you go - https://www.lfgss.com/comments/14969908/ and a google throws up lots of similar examples
It a "safe failure" in that you wont fall off the bike (touch wood, etc) so dont worry too much!

Thanks for that! Will keep an eye on mine.

That would be awesome - will give the Brooks C17 a go as well if I can get my hands on one
Been on various saddles over the years, but the one I love is a Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow (S2), that came on a bike bought. It's worked well for me, and I bought another on here.
SLRs have their fans on here - what else have you ridden that was as good or better? I know, very subjective...just hoping to narrow the field.
