I've not heard about the issue with cracking, I've had both of mine for years. Now I'm a bit concerned, ha ha. Where do they usually fail?

It a "safe failure" in that you wont fall off the bike (touch wood, etc) so dont worry too much!

+1 for the romin. Tried one when they first came out, however long ago that was, and replaced a variety of different all-not-quite-right saddles with them. They have a tendency to crack though - but you get loads of warning as they much more flexible and bouncy before they go!
