  • I'm imagining the A Team theme song playing as @pdlouche gets busy with the modifications

  • Not far off.

Spent the past two hours doing a ten minute job. As per usual with these things.

Cleaned and lubed throttle and clutch cables, tried the spare MX braced risers but no good. Fitted the flat drag bars, then throttle was sticking. Sorted throttle then brake banjo was pressing to top yoke clamp. Rotated that. And so on.

Stopping for an early lunch but so far I have a nice snappy clutch, snappy throttle, no horrid swept-back bars, and a desire to run a whole tank through just to shake it down.

Going to fit aux spots to the crash bars, look for some lever protectors, maybe swap the levers for pivot ones like on the DR. Later I will fit braided lines and maybe do a full brake rebuild for good measure.

And so on, and so on...

  • Hmmm.... I do have a bright white Rickman top box going spare...

  • Looks so different to the version that was standard in London with the ratty top box, handle bar muffs and estate agents boards fairings.

In the hands of@pdlouche it’s just a matter of a few days until it’s there I guess. :)

  • Congratulations on your restraint. I would probably be halfway through the second tank just making it go vroom. Nice day to head to any coast and back.

  • Can't let @pdlouche have all the fun
Drz400e with a 430 big bore kit, crd exhaust, asv levers, excel rims, basically all the toys. A riot is an understatement.

  • It's the old carb YBR with the extra 2 horses of power over the efi 💪.
Yeah, heard some horror stories of frozen swing arms and cracking! With all the suspension off its moving free across the full range of motion now and no play, I just can't get that bolt out to service the bushes or re grease.

New caliper mounting bracket was fouling the front disc bolts by a mm so had to file that back, rain stopped play before I got to bleed it through.
New dash's loom is nothing like the loom on the bike so that's been fun too. I wasn't going to bother and see if I could just blag the lights not working on the little cafe clock but thought I'd give it a go. Everything works except RPM so far.

  • Well, it is bloody cold here, and windy!! Next week should warm up a lot.

Only did 140 miles. One M4 junction, lots of A-roads and a few dual carriageways. Hit the ton a bunch of times to work out where the power is.

Had a handful of mis-shifts. Going to investigate over the next 300 miles whether it’s me or the bike.

It felt great though. When I got home there was that feeling of “if it wasn’t so cold maybe I’d just carry on for another 140 miles”.

  • So pleased you got it. You’re going to have so much fun!

  • Yeah thanks for pushing me towards drz. Right call!

  • Tidy DRZ for the current UK price of a ratty DR350, no less.

  • Holy shit, that looks utterly banging! Man you must be having so much fun? So now mid flinging all the way?

Mind me asking where that is? Looks amazing.

  • Yeah mate. And i got it just to be able to explore more and find cool places.

    Up in Guilleres.

  • Must be rough being stuck there

  • They’re such great bikes. Cool you got the big bore too - gives them a bit more punch! Enjoy mate!

  • Wow - that’s so cool. Dave at Tigcraft was / is a master frame builder for singles racing. He did a lot of bikes based around Honda RS125 ish geometry running, four stroke dirt bike motors (KX/RMZ etc) I never know any got on the road. I’d have to buy that if I was in the UK....

  • Oh man that is cool. Someone buy it!
@Airhead, I’m afraid you might not fit on mate.

  • I have just lost a lot of weight but I looked at the bhp and wondered if I might to lose a bit more!

  • Ah fair enough!
Stick it on its side and feed it kroil every few hours for a week, then get a decent air impact and just blast away back and forth. You'll get it eventually, don't use a socket and a huge breaker bar, higher risk of snapping it

  • Awesome. Great you picked an E model with some goodies too! We can all live our off road dreams through you posting stunning scenery. Spring time road trip?

  • Ahhh man, love the area. Utterly floored by some of the Karst structures when i came down the C-26.
I always saw these tiny offshoot roads and 'Coto Privado' routes that made you itch. More updates required sir.

  • No, sadly no time. Maybe end of the year.

    Yeah @chak its beautiful.
