I'm absolutely 100% sure that if Root was playing and came in at 4 then we would have won that. After that start he would have just calmly accumulated and a steady 50 in those middle overs would have made all the difference.

Really hope Topley does well but our attack looks distinctly second rate today.

I was listening to the Wisden podcast yesterday and the suggestion was that Tom Curran had been in the squad for so long that it was his 'turn'. But actually he's been found out at the top level, and now there are other younger bowlers who deserve a shot more than him.

Frustrating that Woakes is being rested for these ODIs, especially considering he's exactly the sort of player that's needed
