I've got some pretty strong ties to Argentina and lived there for a while. I'm quite fond of the flavour but totally a fan of the social ceremony side of maté drinking. It's like a tea ceremony imo.
There's just something nice about taking time out of your day to share a drink and give each other Covid!

I picked up the habit in Argentina and Brazil. I love the flavour and the buzz. I also like really hot drinks so being able to top up with hot water is good, makes the drink last. If I have a coffee or tea it’s gone in about 2mins.
Does get funny looks from people who’ve never seen it.
Yes it does look a bit like a massive pipe
