I'm an SLR person too, have them on all four of my bikes. Been pretty fortunate that I've managed to get saddles that are good for me for all of my bikes for never more than £30. I have wondered if it's the perfect saddle for me though, like you suggest, perhaps there is better?
A lot of my friends have & rave on about Brooks C17s, & I've tried them briefly & they've been fine. Quite an outlay (relatively speaking) to try something which might be worse though.
From my limited experience, I can't recommend a Charge Spoon saddle. Drew blood on an eighty mile fixed gear ride once - never again.

I got a fabric saddle on all 3 off my bikes had charge spoons as well in the early days brilliant budget saddle.

Been on various saddles over the years, but the one I love is a Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow (S2), that came on a bike bought. It's worked well for me, and I bought another on here.
SLRs have their fans on here - what else have you ridden that was as good or better? I know, very subjective...just hoping to narrow the field.
