Makes sense. Im thinking of going E in the future but the splitting in 2 was the big feature for me. Also may swap the box for a custom light weight option down the road. All i need to haul is 1 kid and maybe a dog.

I'm sure this has already been discussed on here but I can't seem to find it - has anyone got any experience with insuring a cargo bike? If so, who's best to go with and is it viewed/valued any differently to regular bike insurance?

i plan to insure with bikmo and they just work on value of the bike, not any other factor

Could you make use of a SRAM X0 / X9 / X7 shifter clamp? I thought they'd be a bit cheaper than they are but you can probably find a second hand one or a knock-off on eBay for waaaaay less than that. Clamp diameter is 22.2mm for handlebars.

If you get the right box you can carry two kids in a bullitt easy, I've carried an adult and a child so unless you're carrying two massive kids I don't think you'd have an issue. Plus Bullitt have good UK stock

Used to see a guy on a white Urban Arrow with x2 kids, but haven't seen him for quite a while now. My wife spotted a blue cargo bike the other day she said looked similar to our Douze, but despite lots of questions and sharing pics I'm no closer to working out what bike it was?!* :) And she's convinced it's not a Bakfiets as we test rode one a few years back...

I’m looking at a mini-max. If I ride a 56cm road bike, I should go for the large right? Omnium say a medium which is 54.5cm I believe. I’m happy with being more upright, just wouldn’t want to feel cramped.
Probably not going to be able to buy the frame kit anywhere for months now anyway -

Yep, I’m the same, and I tried a medium and it was too small. Large is just right, despite what omnium recommend.

Ah yeah, did look into these but unfortunately SKS don't have a distributor in NZ and shipping from most sites is apparently taking a couple of months.
Planet bike do single front 20inch by 60mm front fenders for a recumbent bike that would be perfect, but the distro doesn't bring them in. I'm going to contact them and see if there's a chance they can do a special order.
In the meantime, I've cut down a rear tern gsd mudguard and salvaged mounting and struts from something I already had because they only sell them without hardware, which seems insane.
Hopefully sometime soon, Velo orange do a 29er/20inch mudguard set like they do with the 26/20. Would make life a whole lot easier. -

Metal mudguards can be re-radiused, a couple of us on here have done this.

I have a Medium (usually ride 55 /56 road bikes with long stems) and wish I got a Large. I'm more comfortable now I use it in dad mode but the long stem gets in the way of the cargo area, which can be an issue.

That's what I was thinking.
I'm short legged and long torso and arms for my height so despite being nearly 6"2 I ride a 56cm with not a huge amount of seatpost but a 120mm stem.
I obviously wouldn't replicate the position with a 140mm but would need longish to not be cramped.
I think the large with a 90 or 100mm stem might be fine. I don't want it to feel tall underneath me either though -

The shorter the stem the better in terms of clearing cargo and actually being able to turn when you’ve got a big load on I’d say.

Yes - anything with moving parts eats itself over time.
