  • Apples and pears tho

  • Sure; I wasn't being entirely serious.

But 3x the price / 20x the cost of ownership per mile.

And only 25% quicker to 60.

  • I told him all of this, but he had an itch he wanted to scratch etc

  • It's his money - he can do what he wants with it.

Not what I would spend £70k on though!

  • He’s had what some of us might refer to as a bit of a stinker of a year, so he fancied a treat.

Quite what his newly-divorced wife will make of it remains a mystery, but I’m not entirely sure she’ll be too impressed. But, as you say, it’s his money etc

  • @handtightenonly sounds like you are in the perfect position. You can be the support him as a great brother in law and at the same time get to use a macca without having to worry about trivial things like depreciation and running costs.

  • Would drive. Would also like to know what those wheels are.

  • My guess is that people self obsessed enough to buy a convertible want an Audi/BMW/Porsche. Volvos image doesnt exactly lend itself to those individuals. No wonder the stopped making it. I quite like that it looks like a normal coupe with the roof up so I look like less of a dickhead

Probably explains why he bought it!

  • yeah, roof up it has a much less compromised roofline than the e93 3 series. I hope you enjoy it!

  • In my experience you buy a convertible Porsche so that every single person who likes to think they know about cars can tell you that you bought the wrong car.

  • I haven't succeeded in ID'ing the wheels but here are some more photos of it...

  • I was wondering about OZ wheels but there was a time, way back, when you could buy those "aero" discs to attach to you alloy wheels so they may be them. It's difficult to see really.

  • I think you are correct- they’re aero covers/brake cooling covers.

  • Turbo fan wheels of some sort, a bit like Ronal Turbos.

  • They're Zender Turbos without the centre cap

  • My bottom end is going together

  • Hang on, they're not.

  • I had an 03 reg S60 when my job required lots of travel. Great, great car. Always liked the drop top. Great choice.

  • they were definitely actual wheels and not aero covers (aka Turbo Fans)

  • I’m thinking of those covers the 850’s ran in the BTCC

  • That was my suspicion. They don't look at all like covers though most turbofans are...

  • Here's an Abarth 500 with those bolt on disks which look proper shit.
