Any vintage Tudor of any kind is an absolute steal for £700, let alone a Sub. Would be crazy if this was legit. I think the Japanese market is pretty cluded up regarding watches though, not too optimistic.

I know they did the 'mini sub' but didn't think it went that far back!
I thought that was more 80's?? The reference shows 40mm on Chrono 24.

There's another photo on the thread showing it measured at 39mm, I was worried about size too.

Yeah there's a bunch of other pictures with the case back removed showing the movement and close ups of the dial etc so it looks legit to me. Not sure if the market is just flooded with them. There's one with a bracelet and more faded bezel insert for about 800.

I'll have one then please, was supposed to be getting married and honeymoon-ing in Japan last year, this will easily make up for it 😂

Yo Loophole!
I also want to go to Japan.
2nd dibs.

The dial doesn't seem to match the reference. When you search the reference you added, the text is white not gilt and there is no circular surround to the minute markers. Also missing the "T Swiss T".
Hands are also too long for the dial and the "Lollipop" hand is too small. Different type on the bezel and dial too. Dial might be real but not this reference.

Still a bargain though! :-)

Ah, when/if you do make it out here, lots of good watch shopping to be had!

Hmm interesting, thanks for the info, glad I asked here before blindly pulling the trigger! Might have to do a bit more digging and studying on these subs before getting one
-
• #53262
Yeah I really wanna have a snoop about!
-
• #53263
Ha! Yeah that did cross my mind, wanted to ignore that aspect though as saw a gent with slender wrists rocking a 41mm Datejust and the thing looked like a dinner plate! Means the OPs out the window.

IMO you’re going straight into a fake..
When buying Rolex/Tudor watch, the two first rules are:
There is nearly zero bargain on those watches
Buy the seller..
So, find a vintage Tudor sub, with case in perfect condition, a radium gilt 7928 dial on a 7016 reference, for 700£ it just doesn’t happen..
My two cents..

Yep that’s a fake and not an amazing one. You can find a really good replica of that reference built by the Vietnam masters for around €1000 with a real Swiss eta.

Thanks everyone for the insights, will steer clear for now then! I did wonder if I was onto something great but if it looks to good to be true, I guess!

That's really lovely .
I had one of those for a while myself , regret selling.
Rare piece these days , can't remember the last time I saw one with that dial. -

Cheers. I bought it new around 1990 and worn most days since - until I bought my Planet Ocean back in December which now means I only wear the Speedy 1-2 days a week

I've been looking for a MK40 automatic with dial that Hodinkee borrowed for their limited edition a couple of years back, but haven't come across one for ages .
Found one in a little watch dealers in Venice in 2019 and negotiated him down to a bargain price before realising wifey had my card . when I went back with it he was shut and it was our last day there. Haven't been back to Venice since due to Covid ( we go every year for a week ) but am gonna look again when we ( hopefully ) go in September. -

SKX013?
-

Yep, on uncle seiko fitted waffle strap. I have a coin edge bezel and 12 hour dual time bezel insert on the way. It's dinky, but somehow the perfect size.

Looks great! I have a black/black version from CustomSeiko as my everything watch, which I love
Edit: also on the same strap, which I find really comfortable
That’s the tiny one I think? I recall Tudor have some model that’s like 36mm or even 32mm.
