I've been having a look at these too. One thing it's stopping me is carbon spokes

Will I die if I get one of these posts?

Will I die
Yes, from me coming round and beating you to death with the unnecessary query string on the end of that link.
-
• #9055
Happy to edit it down if I know how π
-
• #9056
Everything after the item number can probably go :)
-
• #9057
url has stuff.com/things ? trash & trash & trash
the ? and all the trash after can go.
To answer your question, yes you will die, the slow onset of necrosis will claim us all.

Thanks chaps, edited down (plus know for next time).
But the question remains, is that seat post a recipe for disaster? And if so, are there other ones I should be looking at?
-
• #9059
also drop the m. before hand as thats mobile view

• #9060
Iβm getting their slowly but looks like, in terms of risk to my health, my link posting ineptitude might be a greater factor than that afforded by the βcheap, light carbon postβ π

When you say Big Ted, how Big are you Ted?
-
• #9062
I was a burly 6β2β 12 months ago and Iβll acknowledge that the last year has added a degree of heft (but, somewhat bewilderingly, not a commensurate amount of height). I understand that for a sector of society I have never met that these are desirable qualities.
Returning to seat posts, Iβd prioritise strength over weight so the one I inelegantly linked to may be sub-optimal for intended use.

• #9063
I'd be more concerned with the post creaking than cracking. My experience being no flyweight was the former, albeit with one occasion of the latter due to user error
-
• #9064
Fair point.
Is there a recommendation for a creak free 27.2 inline carbon post?
-
• #9066
I'm still on the fence on these, mostly because I don't have the funds to get them just yet and was looking for something a little wider that than the stated 17.5mm (assuming we're looking at the same ones)
-
• #9067
Yeah they say 17-18.5mm internal. Quite skinny by today's standards but I'm only ever going to use them with 28c tyres.
They were Β£250 plus an extra Β£18 for changing the finish. Standard is UD Matte but I've gone 3k twill gloss for bling -
• #9068
Nice. Was planning to run whatever wheels I get with 32mm so something a smidge wider might be nice, but maybe the extra 1-2mm is overblown

I now have these in my grubby mitts.
Next: figure out how to route my Di2 cables. Bar end junction box, I guess?

Is that a @gbj_tester "shimano BB" lockring??

I have to say that I like this new Tange sprocket interface:

• #9072
Looks a similar spline to centrelock which tester says is a bad idea
-

Looks like the same tool interface, but without the step which allows fat chains to run on small sprockets. Without the step, you might just about be able to use a 13T, but with most chains the minimum is going to be 14T.
Both the step and the HT2 tool interface existed before I made mine, all I did was have both features in one product.

I went for the 32x38s 'gravel' :/ version, 22mm internal. 100 extra but with seemingly more hub and spoke count options, most likely to always be riding at least 30-32mm tyres minimum but mostly wanted the reassurance of an extra few spokes to make me feel better. Will post when I have them, interested to see how they fare.

someone ripped off prolly merch and I NEED to buy the fakes, can someone please dig? I am also trying. We are in this together.
Yeah, from what I've been seeing online, they're trying to break away from the mould of 'cheap chinese carbon' image and making higher quality products.
The online reviews on their frames and wheels so far seems to be legit from the technical perspective.
