A bit more garden clearing. The ivy down in that corner is no joke. I took a chunk out of the neighbours laurel that's hanging over the fence, just to give me something different to shred and bust the monotony.

The garden waste bin was emptied on Friday and I immediately filled it again with what I had shredded last time. This will be slow going at this rate. But I've now shredded all the stuff pulled to date. So I can now pull, shred, pull, shred and it should be less boring.

Croydon council
Might let you bag it up instead otherwise if neighbours are nice and not using use their bin. Tidy their side a lil or something -

Neighbour (to the right of the photo) knocked on my door on Friday offers Ng some of the space in his bin. Will take him up on it if he offers again.

Got crafty and made some shelves for the bathroom. The black ones are cheapo Matalan jobs, cut up a bamboo chopping board to make the liners. The knobs were part of a thing that hangs over a door. Dremelled off the door hanging bits and drilled holes for screws. Used the left over chopping board to make an air freshener shelf for over the dunny. Still need to paint the woodwork in there, hence the sanded architrave still showing.

What type of Sonos do I want? So I can set them up in multiple rooms
-
• #44587
None of them, they’re a pain in the arse with constant updates and rarely seem to just work without issue. Also when you do have an issue the stock answer is “...it’s your wifi...” regardless of the problem. Wish I’d bought something else tbh.

I disagree. I have:
Arc + two surrounds
Beam
5 ones
AmpNo connection issues at all. S2 is really stable.

Depends.
The One is good enough sound for small / medium size rooms.
Of course, if you’ve got the room and budget, the 5s sound incredible.
If you want a vinyl / floor stander / bookshelf speaker setup, then the amp is great.
If you want an atmos movie setup, then the arc and some surrounds (and maybe the sub) will blow your mind.

Sonos massively pissed me off by removing functionality in an app update (can no longer play local files on my phone through the Sonos 1, just streaming services)
That said we have one in our bedroom and a pair in the living room and they sound decent enough, and haven’t suffered connection issues that weren’t 100% our shoddy wifi

On the other hand we have a separate speaker setup for vinyl which also offers Bluetooth so I think the main reason for the living room Sonos is to bridge the WiFi to the one in the bedroom

We've had a 3 for a long time but actually only use it for radio so I'm sure there are many better options. A friend just got an alexa and rates it?

have to agree. sonos have come on leaps and bounds since initial versions

Sonos really comes into its own when you have a whole house of them. There will always be better options for just needing one sound system somewhere in the house.

@Tenderloin do you have a room plan/plans for where you want Sonos?
-
• #44596
Yep, we’ve got Play:1s in both bedrooms and the kitchen and a Play:3 in the lounge and it definitely is something you only really appreciate once you add extra rooms.
The Play:1s are probably enough for most rooms and you can stereo pair them too which I’m sure would make a big difference if set up properly. As and when we move we’ll probably upgrade and have a shuffle of what we’ve got.
Will pick up the Roam once it’s out for the bathroom and taking into the garden, it’s a much more reasonable price than the Move.

Worse that that on Android. It's limited to streaming from the Sonos app, so you can only use sources which are supported by that. Means that - for example - you can listen to live BBC radio, but nothing from the BBC sounds app.
It's not a hardware limitation because the old Google Play Music app could cast to it, but since that's been killed there's no way to do likewise with Youtube Music. Dunno whether this is Google trying to drive their own hardware sales, or Sonos wanting everything to go through their app. Tech companies are cunts sometimes.
I've had serious buyers remorse with my One, which is frustrating because it a decent piece of hardware. Apart from the lack of a line-in port, which is a stupid omission.

I think it's the same for iOS, we were only using the Sonos app anyway. The 'on this phone' section just disappeared one day, which was hugely annoying as I used it to sit with draft bits of music I'm in the process of creating, on loop while I'm cooking or whatever. Really worked with my routine, so as much as its quite a specific personal requirement just one day finding it wasn't possible any more was next level infuriating.
We (my SO) still bought another one though, even though I argued that a business who's happy to just take away functionality isn't one I want to support. One day it'll only be possible to stream from a proprietary streaming service or something, but everyone will have spent £££ kitting out their whole house, so they'll just think 'in for a penny' and pay up.
Are you looking for something gold leaf above the door?
