• Ticking many current trend boxes, this made in California early 90s Santana Rio steel tandem with 26" wheels could be just what YOU need to alleviate some ongoing Covid boredom. Bought a full year before my son was even born cos I'm super keen like that I've realised that I'm not going to be riding it any time soon, so someone else can (YOU?).

    The good:

    1. Nicely made frame with no bad dents, or cracks or deep rust (fork not pictured, but its a red steel Unicrown)
    2. Mostly complete aside from a few bits: a couple of chains (I'd replace the freewheel too); brake pads; handlebars; saddles; pedals; stoker stem maybe?; grips; tyres, inner tubes; maybe the odd cable; mechs (I may have some period ones I can provide, I'll update); check pictures for what I've forgotten.
    3. Steel!
    4. 26" wheels! Will fit something pretty wide tyres
    5. Loadsa braze-ons
    6. Some key bits present and correct - special double cable for the right hand brake; Eccentric BB shell; cranks and chainrings etc
    7. Some new bits sourced already (right hand shifter NOS, BBs)
    8. Inexpensive

    The not-so-good:

    1. Seatposts are stuck, both of them
    2. Some bits needed to complete it (see above)
    3. Not the prettiest paint

    Spec:

Made in California from Tange frame and fork with eccentric BB for 26" wheels and cantis
Shimano Deore XT 1 1/4" headset (I think the bearings are with the fork!)
Couple of 1 1/4" quill stems
Shimano XT push push shifter/brake levers
    Shimano Deore cantis
    Sugino cranks with TA rings
    A couple of new BBs
Wheels are 48 spoke Suzue sealed bearing large flange hubs laced to Sun rims built by Wheelsmith, drag brake/freewheel rear - Bombproof!
Some other useful bits in the bag.

    £200 collected from Balham.

  • Man this is cool. What’s the sizing?

  • Seat =

    17” Captain C to C
    14” Stoker C to C
    21” Captain top tube C to C

  • Bit small for me - but super great. Santana's are great tandem builders. This would be rad

  • Somebody buy this and we’ll have a 26r tandem club, mine’s brilliant to ride.

  • Sugino crankset is lovely too!

  • I want this.. and I think it’s a good size for me 🤔 :)

  • Perfect for you Max ;-)

  • Totally sold. Tx.
