Bought a set of 685 hydro shifters recently and just finished bleeding them. Right one kept doing bubbles in the funnel, and then I saw bubbles coming out of the side of the lever. Not a great sign.
Tightened up the three torx screws and that fixed it. I might have gotten a bit enthusiastic so I think I squeezed the seal a bit. At least I know where the problem might come from if they start to get spongy, and less than one hour to set it all up and bleed a set is so ok that I would do it again.
Just bought a liter of mineral oil and this is the “after” picture. This must be what is referred to as “a lifetime supply”.
And finally old vs new hoods. At £10 it’s such a good upgrade as there are more knobs on the inside and the hood is tighter than the original ones supplied with the levers.
