  • A bike that can still be fun at sane speeds for the roads you ride on is a good thing. Being able to push massive numbers on one wheel is causing a lot of people to lose their license now.

The speeds have increased a lot since a few people were pushing a ton at the Ace Cafe. The roads have not improved by the same amount and they are way more crowded.

  • I was talking about this with some guys outside the mechanics’ earlier. I have somewhat banned myself from looking at any sports bike for at least another year. Ideally, until I am financially competent enough to afford track days. It’s just not worth the risk on roads now. At least, here in the South West, the flow of traffic carries a massive risk.

Someone I know got away with 105mph on the A4 a few weeks ago, but only because the friend riding in front of him got nicked. Traffic cop admitted he was lucky that the conviction would be difficult to get through, or he’d be getting summons like his mate.

  • It's easy to get sucked in. I just spent an hour looking at stuff on MCN because of this thread and then had to remind myself I've only ridden a few miles on the bike I have this year.

I don't have enough of a reason to have any new bikes but I have plenty of desire!
