Accidentally ended up doing a brutal session today. 7 miles into what was meant to be a 90 min easy run i bumped into an old training buddy who was 2k into 6x1k slightly quicker than 5k pace off 30s rest interval session so after a quick chat he talked me into jumping in for the last 4 reps so we could have a catch up on the easy jog home after. All reps from that point were under 3:20 into a headwind. He said his pace came down by 4s per km average just by having me chase him. I was just 2-3s behind him. I jokingly tried the social distancing excuse to justify that but he was just that little bit quicker. The efforts were hard but definitely easier to dig deep for having someone to chase. For the last year it's been fine training on my own but today made me realise how much I've missed group training and races. Hopefully not too much longer to wait🤞
