Can't see any damage - I also cannot really be arsed to spend more time faffing about with it, which I think is the real driver. But it's a pretty decent grinder with no obvious alternative (unless a fresh batch of Niche's are released) so bit of a catch 22...

Hate to be the person continuously recommending the machine I've got, but I'm pretty happy with my Sette which I've had for almost 2 years. It's up there with the Niche in terms of single-dosing use which was a big factor for me. Pretty noisy but also damn quick (though to be fair, the difference between 4-5 seconds & 8-10 seconds to grind isn't really a big deal in the grand scheme of things).

I finally tore mine apart yesterday, couldn't see anything obviously wrong inside... I've ordered a new display, hope that sorts everything out...

That sounds pretty rough, is there any damage to the burrs that you can see? Seems odd that the burrs are touching but still not grinding fine enough.
