I've had salsa QR, hope (bolt and QR versions) and Thomson. Had slipping issues with Hope QR and Salsa QR on a Thomson post.
Hope bolt worked OK for a while when slightly over torque spec, but eventually snapped (as I later discovered many do).
Never had an issue with Thomson. Wouldnt buy hope or salsa (QR) ever again.
Thomson seatposts are notorious for slipping if you have a google.
Interesting that your Thomson clamp resolved it though.
I won't buy another Thomson seatpost.
Oh, i always thought it was a clamp issue and not a seatpost one. Maybe it was my post all along.
I know the Hope clamps have weak bolts. Never tried the Salsa bolt clamp, but I know many swear by them
