  • The colour is glorious in person, subtle pattern, gloss, blue purple flip.

Might keep the DA9100 on it for a while, mechanical shifting feels pretty fun after running di2 and etap.

Will need fiddly parts like electronic blanking plate when I switch to etap, as well as replacing the BB30 to 24mm Wheels MFG with the ceramicspeed BB30 bearings that were kindly left in the parcel! The low stack cover that doesn't seem to fit that well, too much of the bearing exposed, so might need to get another one with slightly greater height.
Got a 9mm specialized one with a rubber skirt, but looking out for the 4mm ceramicspeed one.

Also handlebars at 40cm (maybe 42cm) feel ridiculously wide compared to what I'm used to using, so that will be changed soon.

  • Needs sworks cages ;-)

  • Got 2 in the parts bin, along with completely superfluous S-Works bottle cage bolts...

  • I’ve been forever seeking a second

  • Pro pursuit aero bars:

  • Looks super purposeful.

But you never got a reply to your “light blue bar tape?” - I reckon definitely and if it’s a mistake then the impractical light colour will mean that it’s blessedly short lived

  • The light blue bar tape would be similar to the S Works logo, and would definitely put me in the anti category.

Bar tape currently over the aero top section because I haven’t internally routed the cables. Didn’t see much point if I’m going to put etap on it soon.

Also the lizardskin bar tape is practically new, so didn’t want to cut it just yet!

  • Silver tape a la bigh's anchor could be good:

  • I could also go white bar tape, might even have a white saddle to go with it...

  • Light blue bar tape FTW - if not now, when?

    If not you, who?

  • On the buy list:

    Ceramicspeed SL6 4mm headset cover
    https://www.ceramicspeed.com/en/cycling/shop/headsets/dustcover-for-specialized-sl6-4mm/

And a SL6 cable routing cover like this:
    https://r2-bike.com/HOPP-CARBON-PARTS-Cover-ICR-Port-for-Specialized-Tarmac-SL6-electronic-Shifting

The Specialized alloy version is £10, the weenie carbon is €19.50, no brainer?

  • Umm can’t believe no one has pulled you up on the face plate being upside down!?

  • Need a better pic, but managed my longest outdoor ride since catching covid (1h)

Fitness felt awful, bike felt amazing.
Longer reach of bars actually felt pretty comfortable with relaxed arms and not too constricted in aero hoods position. 40cm wide drops good for sprinting.

28mm tyres on 30mm rim was also something new!

  • Anyone have any direct mount EE brakes they can sell me for not ridiculous money?

Be sure EE brakes will fit on your frame. I think they have a specific set for the SL6.

Very nice build! I would keep it as is.

  • I would need the direct mount Ee brakes.
Also considering the Bontrager speed stop pro which is an almost as light EE clone. I think around 120g less than Duraace.

52/36 and 11-30 felt spinny compared to my usual 53/39 11-28, as well as 170 cranks vs 165 that I normally run.

9100 does feel like it is as good as it gets for mechanical, so might keep it on here.
Especially as I can’t be bothered to replace the Wheels MFG bb30-24mm BB at the moment...

  • It’s the new upside down Chris king. All the kids are doing it

  • Bike looks rapid.
Do not put blue tape on it.

  • Fixed

  • Haha i lold

Bike looks super fast plus I love the almost purple colorway

(Although i will never dig the chunky look of the sprint stem)

  • Have you considered a bike made of gallium? Perhaps magnesium? Which of All The Elements will the next bike be made of?

  • Well currently I appear to only have carbon and titanium. The Ritchey breakaway steel is languishing in France waiting to be ridden, and a Pompino (cromoly) is sat at @Josh012’s place.
So no aluminium at the moment.

I was curious about magnesium, wood/bamboo isn’t technically an element, beryllium, lithium, graphene maybe...

  • The colour is really hard to take a picture of, YouTube seems to do a better job of it.

I have a 120mm S-Works SL stem in -12 that could go on also, might use it for lighter weight, but don’t want it to snap under my #epicwatts.

Actually more in the event that my bars with 101mm reach and 130mm Zipp stem might be a bit too extreme...
