Only if you are very patient, they take years to decompose, probably a bloody lifetime if there's any quantity.

The cyanide in the leaves is just as toxic to all the detritivors that would live in a compost heap, from rodents, through worms to bacteria.
I'm guessing a commercial composting outfit, working for a local authority, would cope with laurel through dilution.

How about lobbing laurel leaves on the compost heap? Is that OK or is it just burning them.
