That maybe answers the question I had which was “what on earth is the point of them?”.

the kind of curiosity you'd be mad to actually fit or use. Like a Campagnolo toolbox.

The claim was that you’d move the pedal dead spot from the 12 o’clock position which would be more efficient.
What it actually did was just move the dead spot to another place, while you ended up with heavier and more expensive cranks. The crank could be the shape of a swastika or whatever but all that matters is the distance between the pedal axle and the BB axle - what goes on inbetween the two is irrelevant.
The fact that people fell for it, and still do, is beyond astonishing to anyone with even a junior school background in basic science. It’s complete nonsense.
There have been various versions over the last 100 years or so, even curved ones, but they’ll all useless. The PNP ones are the best known, but at least they’re beautifully made while still being utterly pointless.

The sane and best thing for my relationship is probably to convince @SWijland to buy it, but it's really fabulous in almost every way.

The most utterly pointless cycling component ever. Lovely-made piece of kit but absolutely ridiculous. They’ll go for £300+
