different to the ctrl+cmd+space picker? I can't see this option and I want to make my posts unbearable! e: found 👀 it ✅. same as the slightly more key-heavy picker.

It feels like the HomePod gets shot down from two sides. It's either too expensive or not good enough. Personally I think it hits a sweet spot.
This was probably one of the main issues. Amazon have similar problems with the Echo Studio which is a pretty similar device (but a bit cheaper). If you want great audio you probably want something better, if you're not that fussed you may as well get something cheaper.
It's main issue was probably that it was up against the Amazon stuff which was cheaper and, for a lot of people, better (e.g. working with spotify).

Apple-philes.
I want to upgrade my RAM on my new iMac as I'm almost always running Windows in Parallels for Revit and it's currently behaving as if someone has opened the back of it and poured chocolate into it.
I got the specs from the Apple website for the RAM upgrade (see below) but I was wondering if there is a great value upgrade available in the same vein as Lightbicycle rims from the good people of China? I'd like to get the full 128GB but I'd also like to not spend a tremendous amount of money on it if I don't have to...
For optimal memory performance, DIMMs should be the same capacity, speed, and vendor. Use Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules (SO-DIMM) that meet all of these criteria:
PC4-21333
Unbuffered
Nonparity
260-pin
2666MHz DDR4 SDRAM
1 Attachment

MrMemory or Scan are probably about as cheap as you'll get them. Both around £130 per 32Gb stick. Spendy.

Ah gotcha, cheaper than Apple though at least! Unfortunately current power is killing me for work so going to have to do something about it!

64Gb really should be more than enough.

If you want to upgrade the iPad then the new iPad Air Wi-fi only version is hard to beat right now
Just ordered one of those, it's replacing my MBP from 2010.

I'll try 2 x 32GB to start and I'll have room to add an extra two if necessary afterwards.
Edit: Went with Mr.Memory for 2 x 32GB and 2 day delivery. Excited for upgrade!

Been with Three for years. Wife and daughter too. Currently on Sim only contract - unlimited everything for £13 per month - for 6 months. Up to £26 per month for final 6 months of 12 month contract. I have an iPhone 10s / Xs and don’t need a new phone at the mo so went sim only for a year.
As someone mentioned about coverage - if you don’t have coverage, it’s not much good but, imho, that’s the same with every provider. Coverage at home is ok (not great just ok) but O2 here is worse and Vodaphone worse again. Three has worked for me and I would recommend but if you don’t have coverage in your area - it won’t be a good fit. -

Yay for the Apple Genius Bar folk who replaced my screen-frozen iPad with nary a murmur. They had a 64gb wifi 10.5 Pro in stock at Covent Garden so I get to keep quad speakers and a headphone jack. Plus it's an unused one, not a refurb. Woo.

Is there an easy way of re-installing a legacy iOS on an old iPad? Someone must have them archived somewhere?
I've inherited an iPad mini that's been over-updated and it's unusable, I'm sure going back to iOS 8 will sort it out

Not totally easy, but not impossible either

My old 2012 Air seems to be dying. It doesn't detect the internal SSD anymore and boots up to a blinking folder with a question mark.
I tried all listed in this link (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204323) but disk utility doesn't find the SSD most of the time. Is there anything I can do or is it ready to be trashed? -

" Note that at this point, you're limited to jumping back to older versions of iOS 14; you need Apple-signed versions of iOS if you have any hope of installing them on your phone, and Apple has stopped signing anything from iOS 13 or earlier."
Every time you install any version of iOS it phones home to Apple to get a signing key. Apple is very aggressive about not signing anything much older than the latest version, so by legit means it isn't possible.

Yeah it's been upgraded to 9.3.5, looks like it needs jailbreaking to go back

• #17648
Would like, no need for it sadly.

Well no-one needs anything on this thread. But one pimped 16” for a good price, dm me.

Maybe I'm being thick but, like, when I'm searching for something with spotlight (using cmd+space), and I do find the file I am looking for - is there a way to actually do something with it, other than clicking on it (which opens it with the default application for the filetype)?
I can't seem to right-click (option-click) or even get spotlight to tell me the path where the fucking file is located (usually I'd like to do one of these two things).
Am I missing something?
Just found out 🔍 there is an option ⌥ in the keyboard ⌨️ settings ⚙️ so the emoji 😁keyboard comes up ⬆️ when you press the 'fn' key . Game changer 👌
