  • Looking at various 22mm think solid planks atm. Seen some junckers stuff, both new and reclaimed for decent prices

  • Sorry, should have pointed out, the far left door is just a doorway.

  • I have 8sqm of Junckers you can have for very good price

  • I may take you up on that, but I need just over 100sqm all in . Hence wanting to cut some costs.....

  • I may do vinyl in the kitchen I stead of wood, as the floor there will be screreed and level

  • Chuck up a photo of the space - or stick a slouchy guy with an untucked Oxford shirt in

  • thanks that's helpful- I suppose Ill have to see when I finally start it and strip it out - might get away with hardiebacker screwed straight in the wall - the plan is to tile half way up like yours but was considering building out a wall so i could hide the pipes but i had the hip that protrudes through onto the wall plate - what have people done with theirs?

  • I mean you could level it and ply it yourself if your not terrible at DIY.

Just don’t get giant screws that will go through the boards in case you puncture pipes or put it through a cable!

  • This is possible, but unsure how open the builders would be to having me on site all day.....

  • That is glorious!

  • A render is prob easier as it shows the space better plus good posture person.
Doug is coming round to chat stuff today so will ask him too.

  • If you want to cover them up I would go integrated, as Dov says a door inside a door would be annoying.

Not going to do a @Soul and put your drier on top of the washing machine?

  • He made that comment when I showed a floorpan with a door where there was just a doorway... integrated is still opening a door really, I'm torn.

  • Doors will help with noise too?

We are doing something similar except washing machine and tumble dryer stacked on top, and also since they are in the bathroom proper, just tucked behind a stud wall, apparently they have to have doors so the socket is fully separated from bathroom.

  • OHHHHHH NICE.
Yeah our bathroom was divided in to two separate rooms as it was far too large for our needs so socket sits in the middle of the wall in the utility side room with a proper wall and door between.
Any pics of yours? And what exactly are you doing?

  • I'd say bifold. If you integrate into cupboards and you have to replace down the line you're limited to the same size + all the laundry room crap is hidden away. Top tip from ours - we have washer and dryer side by side on a raised plinth, with space underneath for 3 baskets similar to this (not readers). Really useful for sorting laundry in a reasonably neat way which might be good if you are walking through there all the time.

  • OH dear god, that's a brilliant tip reg laundry sorting.
It does mean more building though, maybe Ikea have something suitable.

  • If you did integrated you could make it functional but also look decent maybe - would be easiest to use on the daily.

As for doors to screen the utility space - I do see the logic - bifold's might be annoying unless the hardwear / installation is top notch (cheap rattly janky tracks would piss me off ).

small humans=big washing so when that happens i would posit the doors will be open 95% of the time.

Here's an open E17 laundry zone - bit 'period' style for your place but you get the point.

    What's the actual width dim?

  • Here he is! Thread MVP.
Where is that pic from? Good shout reg rattly doors, I would build them myself so prob bodge them in some way whereas cabinets would be a bit simpler.
The exact dims of the area are 127cm wide by 12ocm deep (but the room itself is bigger, prob around 220 deep but need the rest of the space to walk through).

  • I'd stack them the other way to this photo bc there's a light on the opposite wall, prob don't need a sink but it is handy to have next to washing machine for stains, paint brushes etc
Most appliances should have a decent lifespan + just check for most common depth + width and build to that if worried.
I like the below storage that @villa-ru mentions

  • If it changes anything the whole space is going to be bright orange.

  • Thank god, Aesop has finally made an appearance

    EDIT Oh that's not Aesop!

  • Haven't seen blue sky since 😓

  • Pic is https://www.instagram.com/p/BEdinhNF9Na/

been awol - work busy + got garage burgled and tools and bike nicked.
