  • I think it was the M030 kit, yes. The problem was it just killed the fun element. It was very very competent, to the extent that I got the impression you never had to slow down for corners, but it was too good; very German. You could carry a lot of speed, but you weren't really enjoying it.

My strong suspicion, given the rarity of the M030 kit, and the number of people who rave about the Boxster's handling, is that the standard setup makes for a more entertaining car.

  • It's not that different, 10mm drop and some very slightly thicker ARB's - a competent setup place would have been able to make it drive very differently to how you describe, these cars are amazingly sensitive to how everything is aligned.

    This ⬆️

  • In all the classifieds I’ve checked, there are actually very few that have it.

  • Love that .
Not appealing to their just add lightness mantra

  • My 2.7 boxster was much more fun when high in rev range .
Light footed it was a bit dull , not over endowed with low end torque.
Great value , but on balance if I was buying again I’d go for an earlier one with original headlights and drive it like a classic English roadster , except it’s so much cheaper.
    And
Every time I had to fix something , the nuts bolts and screws looked like they were 2 years old not 15 .Very well put together , and the forums fixes saved me time and money

  • .

  • Interesting. Although they shouldn't be that sensitive if they are engineered properly :-D
Too late now, mind you. I'll likely never buy another. I can't imagine when I will be able to have something nice again.

  • Mine drove diagonally under power after a well respected Porsche specialist had set it up.

There is so much adjustment because of their competition history - the GT3 adds even more.

  • A couple of DB5's with poncey plates spotted, this one a 1965, alas not spotted on the A10.

    And a lovely 1964 convertible.

I expect both those plates were quite spendy. UK plate A1 is apparently the most valuable plate in the UK and reportedly sold in 2019 for £1.2 million.

According to wiki originally issued in December 1903 to the second Earl Russell, A1 is not the first UK plate, that honour apparently belongs to plate DY1 which was issued in Hastings in November 1903. And I must admit I really quite like the fact that plate A1 is currently registered on a humble 2007 1.6 litre Mini, and plate DY1 currently lives on a diesel Land Rover. CSB.

  • I owned a 2001 986 2.5 boxter, about ten years old I think, had it a couple of years until genuinely company car forced sale. It was fantastic, every drive was rewarding, made the best “yowl” noise when pushed, but was so well-mannered, comfortable around town etc and not challenging to drive. I did get some mild “poor man’s Porsche” piss taking comments but to be fair, this was an accurate summary. If I had the spare money / space / time etc I would get another, this time in the S.

  • On ruinous fast barges. Off to see this E60 550i touring tomorrow which is so near to me it’s rude not to. What should I look for @NurseHolliday ?

  • You need to cc @Fixedwheelnut no one knows more.

  • I'm pretty sure this has been for sale for a really long time.

  • Electrics on these go absolutely batshit so check everything works

  • The hero we don't deserve. Lost count how many queries he's helped me with!

  • Thanks for heads up on both counts.

  • Class spots dude.

Would never have vanity plates but if I did CSB would work

  • looking good! Have you upgraded the dash speakers too?

  • I believe oil leaks are a thing on 50i and 45i

    A V10 M6 overtook me through a flyover yesterday. What a noise!

  • Haha, now you mention it I had to look it up, and the plate CSB 1 also belongs on a Mini.

  • My old neighbour had AK 47 on her lexus.

  • Owner got be ‘on ere’
