  • Ah man i love that Dirty Disco, exactly the kind of bike i'd like if i actually rode my bikes anywhere remotely interesting. Any idea what a more modern equivalent might be?

  • Hah, good question. To be honest it’s just an open mould cx frame. Mine is not even a real Dirty Disco as I bought it directly from China.

I read somewhere the geo is a bit weird with a super steep st and slack ht, clearance isn’t great, it only has eyelets for bottle mounts and it’s a size too small for me because people have always told me I’m short, so I believed it and bought a small frame.
I’ve been cycling for 20 years and I don’t know how a bike is supposed to handle or what geo does, or how a fork can make a bike come alive. All my bikes just feels like bikes.

It really isn’t special and the build is a mess:

    • Aero wheels with 36mm tires
    • “Gravel” cowbells
    • That Thomson seat post
    • 46/36 for road - it’s the best
    • And the final piece I’ve been trying to keep a secret in here - a Nishiki saddle from some random hybrid (but I just always thought it was comfortable).

It’s my go to bike because it goes where I point it. Any cx, gravel or even a modern road frame with a bit of tyre clearance could do the same.

I went back and found some pictures from one of my best trips - riding up Mt. Ventoux on one of the fire roads on 32mm cyclocross speed tires in 2017.
So many questions there. “Can you ride gravel on 32mm?”, “Will Tour de France ever go up that gravel road?”, “Have you had the same bike since 2017?”

TL;DR “just get an arkose” 😄

  • Haha nice review, I'm sure it's not the perfect "do it all" bike but it looks simple and fun. My partner has a Genesis Datum she picked up cheap in mini person size that I'm always jealous of, this reminds me of that.
