well, after slating it the other month, i lost out on the battle and now we have a serif.
I will admit it fits into that space well.

best thing about the newer serifs is that they're really good TVs, not just design objects. the IQ is top notch, I find, and I love the OS (some complain about ads but I don't have any)

wont be connecting mine, we use the apple tv and have command stripped it to the bottom of the serif so far so good!
i only had a 720p TV until now, so going to 4K has been an eye opener, i finally convinced myself to upgrade from netflix basic too

Does anyone have any recommendations for a floor fitter to lay herringbone in hackey?
-
• #44406
nice, just spotted that. could you not command strip it to the back of the TV for the ultimate clean look ? or would that interfere with the remote maybe
-
• #44407
the back of the TV is on show because of the railings/split level, so this was a middle ground

ahhhhh makes sense... looks clean still

Apple TV remote works on bluetooth so doesn't need line of sight, you could stick it around the corner/wherever the socket is and just have a longer HDMI running to the telly?

Now just to wax it.

Looks lovely. Also looks like they’ve done a better job with cable management. I love my serif for the way it looks but mines an early model and pretty much everything else is a bit sub par.

Good work.

Also love the different levels, great to see you got moving sorted after all the hassle.

yeah we could, might do that when we have an actual unit over the other side for all the stuff to live, right now its just an extension cord and the router sat on the floor

Time to sit back and admire your work with a relaxing ciggy.

how is the sound on them though? where would a soundbar go?
-
• #44420
sounds good to me without a soundbar, and in pretty fussy about sound quality.
havent tried any music yet but not what its for..

Have to say I have a frame which I believe is relatively similar to the serif and the sound is leaps and bounds beyond the old Panasonic I had. Quite often I'll use without any speakers and that wouldn't have been the case with the old TV.

Getting massively fucked off at builders going totally silent and not responding. The last one who came out was recommended by a friend who has used them twice and their friend has also used them. Came out to quote, seemed keen, sent prices and is now just not responding. Even the plumber who came out at short notice to fix my bathroom sink, I asked him to quote to install a towel rad (some copper plumbing work required and a system drain down) and he said he would, has also been ghosting me.
If you're too busy, just say so and I'll move on. Otherwise it's a waste of my time waiting for you to not reply when I could be getting other quotes.

Feeling this too. We're getting radio silence from firms that have made multiple visits and have seemed very keen.
We're starting to look at breaking the work down and seeing if we can get smaller outfits to do things.
I have no idea why this is an issue but its driving us nuts. We were hoping to get a small extension done by summer and have been trying to get quotes for nearly 4 months now!!!

I don't seem to have any issue getting people round to quote. Quite the opposite. It's when we pick one, we always seem to pick the one that quotes and then fucks off. The one that was recommended, I know is busy as my mate's ongoing works have been pushed back by a couple of weeks. But just let me know. Even if he said, "I'm busy, can we book this in for May?" I'd be happy. As it stands, total silence is becoming my main bugbear.
The ones I emailed this morning came back in 10 min, both business partners live local, and should be round this week to quote. Which is a good start, but like I said, it's after that that worries me.
I've got the cash ready to go and we want the work done. I know a lot of trades don't need the work right now. But then don't fucking quote for it. Let someone else who won't dick me about do that.

Trades are the worst with comms. Literally the worst in the entire world.
I tried to use a recommendation form here for our bathroom and it took about 18 months of chasing until I finally gave up.
If trades learnt project management and comms I bet they could become way more efficient and actually increase profit.
Thanks, I'll look into it, I've just been lazy tbh. I replaced the hi/low switch before so suspect it could well be the switch.
