Sure but he can do that regardless of whether he tells the world it's on ebay or not.
In the old world people deleted/trashed the threads then stuck their stuff on eBay or Gumtree or Singletrack or YACF or...
Yes some people would have seen the thread and known what it was about and could technically make an enquiry.
I'm kinda surprised at the permissiveness of this to be honest - we have an exclusivity rule. It's on here, or its not on here and it's somewhere else. If say for example we take Amey's ad for his Trek it's on here and on eBay. I'm not sure why that's OK now.

don't link to an ebay sale or post up something already for sale on another site obvs !

Non - bike question. I've got a snowboard for sale on another forum (snowheads). It's kind of niche, doesn't seem sensible to list on a cycle forum, but there are a few snowboarders here. Is it ok to post a note in the snowboarding thread with a link to the snowheads listing?

Hello everyone, I'm being trolled on a classified I posted. People are winding me up because I made a comment about being in financial difficulty due to a new born. Making jibes about me selling my child and it's really not funny. How do I report them?

• #285
Dibs kidneys if willing to split.
edit - ignore this seems stuff might be sold on gumtree

Phone the police, tell them you need to report a code 69 offence.
That's the code for a serious sense of humour failure.

I don’t know if there is any rule or if it’s just considered good etiquette.
Wanted to buy an item off the classifieds so I messaged and the seller replied with his PayPal while I was driving home.
By the time I got home he had sold to another person 20 mins later.
If I had theoretically paid PayPal refunds can take up to 5-7 days to come.
Is handing out your PayPal to multiple people for the same item really okay?
No hard feelings to the seller just interested to know opinions. -

I have updated the rules to allow advertising of charity auctions and offline raffles and lotteries.
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/143848/#comment6571218
Most auctions, raffles and lotteries are regulated under UK law and I've always flat out said that you cannot advertised or run them on here... but it isn't as black and white as that.
Charity Auctions - I'm cool with them being advertised but you must run them on eBay as auctions need contracts to be in place for participants. This is going to be an exception to people advertising their own eBay advert... they can, so long as at least 50% of the proceeds go to a charity.
Raffles and Lotteries - UK law basically says you cannot do this online without a licence (and the Gambling Commission states that it is roughly £500 and tedious bureaucracy to get one - link is in the classifieds rules linked above). As I'll be liable for this were you to do it, this is still prohibited unless you can convince me you have a licence, and I will need hard proof of this.
UK law does say that you can do raffles and lotteries at events without a licence so long as all tickets are sold at the event and the draw occurs at the event in front of an audience... so I'm fine with a charity raffle / lottery being advertised if it's 100% offline and at an event.

Many thanks for that.

• #291
How do I post on here please?
-
• #292
I have no plans to run a raffle etc. But I assume site like Raffall.com get round all the licensing requirements so in theory if someone wanted to run a raffle they could do it through that?
I am a treasurer for a small charity, and we have run charity raffles through them, but then we do have a raffle license anyway...
-
• #293
Yup, no problem if someone runs a raffle elsewhere. If that site meets the regulatory bar, then great.
Although rules of this site would be that listing it here would be spam. So it doesn't change anything about what happens on this site.

Is there a rule for minimum posts/time in this forum to create and ad on the classifieds? I've made one today (8 hours ago) but has no views...

I wouldn't take the view counter too literal. I can see your post fine.
-
• #299
thanks!

As far as I know, the view counter only updates when a new comment is made on the thread or the post is edited so it will always show very low for a while to begin with
FWIW I find a bump that just says ‘moved to Ebay’ annoying. They can just edit the title or edit it into their first post. This will tell anyone that happens to find it, without moving it to the top of the classifieds.
