COVID-19 vaccines

I'm happy to hear so many are getting jabbed still. On a personal level both my grandmas have had theirs which was a big relief (one of them did have covid previously which was a stressful time but she had no issues and ploughed through it thankfully). My dad is a GP so he had his quite early on and is giving them out to people in his area, not sure how it works for him but think the surgery are on a bit of a rotation with it between general clinical days and vaccine days, next session for him is on Saturday I think. Mam who is early 60s has had hers now too so thankfully that's everyone I've personally fretted about. Mine is a long way off I'd think but is great to see this thread pop up with news of others getting it sorted throughout the day.

At last, MrsO (58) has an appointment for a jab next Wednesday and a second jab in May. She is running 10 days behind me but we should both reach our highest level of immunity in early June and, be able to travel, if travel is allowed, in July or August. Not booking anything yet but the prospect is nice as she needs a break from caring for her father and as he has been jabbed, her brother can step into the breach and up to the plate for a fortnight.

I just booked mine for Tuesday afternoon with no issues at all. Yay.

Yip, got my first vaccine yesterday evening at Epsom Downs grandstand.

It was the Astra-Zeneca vaccine. No side effects so far, not even a sore arm.

Not too bad but she’s had an uncomfortable few hours.
Ideas possibly worth considering prior to getting the jab:

• Set out any medication you might need; rummaging through the First Aid kit with a temperature sucks, I’ve been there.
  
• Plan for what would make ease your mental load if you do start feeling bad- Tell your work you might need the next day off, ask your emergency contact to be available if you might want to chat, put clean sheets on the bed and get your favourite night wear and entertainment ready.
  
• Keep a couple of water bottles by the bed. Also a clean hand towel or sponge to dab yourself with water if you get a temperature.
  
• Keep a meal or three in the fridge ready to eat or heat and eat.

Did Mrs Eseman get a 15minute wait after her jab?

GF had hers today, AZ and no wait.

I had a fifteen minute wait after an AZ jab today. it was only for people who had driven or cycled though.

No wait here either.

I wasn't asked to wait 15 mins after today's AZ jab; my nurse said they only kept people back after Pfizer. Mind you half a mile down the road I felt distinctly wobbly.

Yeah, I’ve had reports from several people who’ve had mild to moderate symptoms after the jab, all different ones. All of them were fine after 24 hours. Conversely my wife had the Pfizer jab back in January and had no side effects at all.
I’m having mine at Selhurst Park on Tuesday afternoon, and I’m thinking that I’ll put work on standby in case I have a shitty night. They’ll be cool about it but it may help to clear the work diary a bit in case I’m not there. I’m not worried about it at all tho, can’t wait to get the bloody thing and take a step back towards some sort of normal again.

Got Pfizered at Stoke Mandeville stadium this morning and am a bit achey up and down my arm, mild headache which I will treat with red wine and disdain shortly. Nice to have reached this point.

Called up just now - jab tomorrow am.

I'm in the first batch of people to get vaccinated here, apparently it'll all be organised through our employer so I'm just playing a waiting game... It's proceeding veeeery sloooowly here...

Walking, so no worries. Slight temperature and headache that night/next morning but really no biggie and cleared up in 24hrs. Hope you get yours soon.

AZ for me. In and out in a couple of minutes. Nothing to report as yet. Will see how the weekend progresses.

I just received an NHS text message inviting me to book for vaccine.

You are eligible for a free COVID-19 vaccination because of an underlying health condition.

As far as I know I don't have any underlying health conditions... I'm early 40s, not overweight. I just book it anyway, right?

Yes. There’s lots of vaccines next week so need bums on seats

Had my first this morning. Sore arm and a bit of a headache but not much else in the way of side effects.

Edit: no side effects apart from these for me.

Me & Mrs Jangle both had our first jabs this morning at Excel.

The organisation was astonishingly good.

No side effects for either of us thus far.

AFAIK the UK are generally ahead of schedule so go for it. My niece has hers booked for next week and she is only 29. Just got the text, no other reasons.
