Got a used Bosch GMS120 on eBay for £20 the other day. Not sure if that’s the same as you already have but so far so good. Has detected wires. Haven’t tried to find a stud etc.

Annoying as at the time I thought I'd invest in what I thought would be a decent one. Only its too decent.

Used it yesterday and had totally forgotten how painful it is.

Without wanting to sound patronising, are you following the instructions fully? My old Bosch one has a method of calibrating itself when you switch it on. Mind you, it's only one tool for divining pipes and wires and rarely the first one I'd use.
