Joking aside, if people are stupid enough to buy these, then markings would suffice, and the proof that Rennen are stupid too is that they do actually cut them slightly differently. Of course, a fixed pitch chain doesn't care about that, and just finds the place where two adjacent roller contact points are half an inch apart.
