I've had the same experience and tend to just buy the fake Rapha ones, as the quality tends to be pretty good and they're fairly subtle. I've had good experiences with this store https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32824323253.html

Long shot but some time ago, somewhere on the forum, someone linked to some totally plain cycling socks available in white or black from AliExpress that were cheap and well made.
Every so often I check to see if I can find them and searching just turns up fake Rapha and Maap socks. Does anyone know if ordering these might actually yield plain ones?
