  • Hey. Providing the hubs are the correct width for the fork, QR wheels install very similarly to nutted wheels: just slide in.

    Once the wheel axle is placed into the dropouts on your fork, you tighten the QR nut to the point where it is slightly difficult to flip the QR lever closed. A good rule of thumb is that it should be hard enough leave a mild imprint on your palm for a few seconds; if you can close it with just your fingers, it’s too loose; if you have to apply a lot of force to close it, it’s too tight.

  • Is there a standard width for road hubs/forks?

    The standard for QR road hub spacing (which I should’ve said instead of width) is 100mm front, 130mm rear. For QR disc brake road hubs it’s 100mm front, and usually 135mm rear.
