  • Yeah I've taken what I think are gravel routes and end up pointing the Tripster down some stuff I definitely want to close my eyes for :)

  • Is that the bridleway that runs through the weird farm/caravan graveyard?

  • honestly couldn't tell you, i was too busy [redacted] myself coming down the other side to tell you what the view was, believe there was some church/mill at the top?

    @yoshy might know

  • The spot I'm thinking of might be over towards Rochdale/Littleborough the more I think about it. Wherever it is you ride right through it and it has a real creepy vibe especially when it's dark.

  • That's the chunk that goes up Hartshead pike in Oldham. I remember vividly when I got a GT grade "gravel" bike riding up that in 28c tires and a lower gear of 36/28. Fortunately bikes come specced a lot better nowadays.

  • I grabbed a route off RWGPS and some of the tracks were conceptual rather than factual

  • Would you share that route pls?

  • after checking the apps i could nay' find it so i drew you this, the rest was just riding from my house

  • it's maybe a mile of baby head/ loose gravel, and quite steep

  • Sounds like most of my TCR routes.

  • Fair, thank you dude

  • Glad you went on this ride as it gave birth to the most excellent bit of ride commentary ever.

  • Isn't that Komoot's whole business plan?

It’s a bit weird as trying to find ride south from London result in maybe 5 or 7 options.

  • Had a lovely trip out yesterday. Lots of different kinds of gravel, including hard mud, wet mud, bog, sand and actual gravel that could only be described as gravel. Not been to Chobham Common before so that was nice. Pic is of Burnt hill, which is apt following last year's fires.

You can have at it by following this - but my return route was a little different as I know Chatley Heath and all the best bits between there and Kingston. You'll have to find those yourself. Other tip - go up the footpath through Wentworth, not the road. It's a bit further down the hill on the right. Passed loads of 'Green Keepers' and they all said hello rather than piss off, which was unexpected.

  • Think I can see some pixels there

  • A true highlight

  • and they all said hello rather than piss off

    Love this.

  • This is Hartshead Pike, right? I tried riding up this fixed gear once when I first got into cycling. Tough!

Edit: ah confirmed a little way down. The Second City Divide route finishes up there, & the building was a sweet shop once.

  • ^ As a brummie I am offended by this route

  • Maybe it's time to start a nogravel/shitfromabutt route sharing thread?

Do it Gio! You know all the routes.

  • Shame it’s bloody awful to use.

  • Manchester fixed (01fix1) Wednesday night rides go up around the road climb at the back when we're feeling brave enough for hills, views are amazing, and the station pub in Stalybridge a great stop.
