FS: Cinelli Man Machine

So I got into building bikes during the lockdown and have rebuilt a Cinelli Man Machine 52cm frame into a very quick fixie / track bike. I've included a parts list below; ideally, i'd like to sell complete but it's likely you would need to change the wheels as the current set aren't compatible with rim brakes.

this is my first build and post tbh! Do you have a ballpark you'd expect to see for this spec?

@benfixd if its a mid price cinelli frame you've magic geared into a very quick track bike probably around £400?

fair enough - the additional parts were considerably more than £400 hence what I can see now is quite a high asking price

Cost does not equal value unfortunately.

For less than you're asking for your single speed conversion, you can buy a brand new Cinelli carbon road bike with 2x11 shimano 105 groupset

Good point well made - i'm not trying to pull a fast one here; I just have little to no experience pricing bikes.

In light of the above I think it's fair to revise the price to £1250

...very quick fixie.

How quick is it exactly?

To be fair, the components are mainly cheap and virtually worthless second hand.
A bigger concern is that you're using caliper brakes on wheels without a brake track.
(OK, yeah I know they 'sort of' work anyway and wheels never used to have machined braking surfaces blah blah blah)
These wheels are specifically designed for track only so chances are the material where the pads are applied is likely thinner than a rim with a dedicated brake track...

I think you’d be better off breaking it and getting whatever you can; you're not going to get 1250 for it.
Keep the brake levers and tyres though.

Handlebars look like they’re trying to get away from the rest of the bike.

Have a search through the classifieds here for the same parts you've built up with and that will give you a better indication of the used value for the bike and the parts but I'm afraid it's not worth £1250 either.

*don't ride it either because as soon as you've got brake tracks scratched onto those rims they'll be worth very little money to anyone else.

I think using a chain tensioner on a fixed gear drivetrain might present some issues. Playing around with sprocket size / gearing / chain length might be a safer route to getting the right chain tension (but a bit more involved).

My parts bin consists mostly of a of shimano square taper BBs, couple of miche primato cranksets and various 105 rim brakes from over the years ... am i sitting on a small fortune?

maybe 550/600 IFF everything is pristine condition and it's almost summer and forum is full of keen buyers after a summer ride

Somewhat nice build, though running it fixed with a chain tensioner? as @tb said, find a ratio that works and dial everything to it, still not the kind of frame i'd run fixed.

You’ll get more splitting this. As said above, cost does not equal price - especially if you’ve bought parts new. For a price on a complete bike, you can total up what you’d sell parts for individually (not what they cost you), then basically take off labour to build rather than add on! Or just look at similar stuff for sale on here - have a look at what a grand gets you to understand why people are piling on a bit ;-)

Also feels like a bit of a weird frame to SS. Would be much more desirable as a geared road bike as it’s meant to be IMHO. Also worth the knowledge gained from learning how to set up gears.

Good choice! I'd also recommend selling the wheels and getting something with proper brake tracks. Would be a very sick whip with some deep carbon rims!
