Note to self, knee pads are essential equipment. Especially if you’re new to off road and not very good.

Go to a shop and try loads on. We’re all different shapes so what works for me mightn’t for you.
I use Nukeproofs fyi

Thanks Tiles, good shout. I was just going to order summat online. Hadn't really considered differing body shape for knees.
Btw off topic but thought you should know that the Lexpress finally died last year.

Aw, always sad to any bike go. Let alone one I’ve owned.
Where abouts are you these days?

Get old and really slow, then you don't need any protection!

I'd you're going online, order loads of different types from somewhere that does free returns.

@skinny elbow is bruised but ok. My hiP and thigh got it pretty bad though.
@furious_tiles usually still in Palace and working In Farringdon but looking for a way to escape the city. Was sad to see her go too when the chain stay cracked I got her repaired and resprayed with a lovely green flake. This time bb gone and decided wasn’t worth repairing.
@BareNecessities ha I thought I was managing that tactic well. Gravity proved to be an irresistible force

Trust me. If you get knee but not elbow pads, I can guarantee you will be elbow first next time!

Tried Redlands yet?

But your elbows are no where near your pedals so it’s only the ground they have to worry about!

I always wear knee pads (after skinning both knees over one weekend, which finished in breaking a rib), the elbow pads live in the full-face and only get worn when it does.

I like my race face charge knee guards for xc riding. They're more like knee warmers with abrasion protection so not for hard impacts but they are enough to save you from cuts and grazes. Cheap online and very comfy

knee warmers
Sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Do they stay up on their own?
-
• #20223
Yeah they've got a gripper running all the way around the top and as long as you get the sizing right they shouldn't budge

If I bed in some disc brakes using organic pads would I have to re-do the process if I change the pads to sintered, or would the rotor already have a decent layer of pad material that would be ok?
-
• #20225
Won't the rotor get bedded in when you bed in the new pads anyway? I've never had a problem swapping between organic and sintered.
Need to get yourself to Epping Forrest then!
